How this website handles your data

The short version
This website has no accounts, no cookies and no database. It does not store anything you type into it.
Contact form
The form does not send anything to this website. When you press the button, it opens WhatsApp on your own device with your message filled in, and you choose whether to send it. From then on, the message is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy. Email links work the same way, through your own email app.
Please do not send medical records or urgent medical questions through this site. In an emergency, go to the nearest emergency department.
Live Motion (camera)
The Live Motion feature in the hand atlas asks for camera permission. The video is processed entirely inside your browser to find the position of your hand. No video, image or hand data leaves your device, and nothing is recorded. The camera turns off when you press Stop or leave the page.
Visitor statistics
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. It records things like the page visited, the referring website, the country, and the browser and device type, in aggregate.
The site also keeps its own simple counts so Dr. Saharia can see how it is used: daily page views, the referring website, the country, the device type (phone, tablet or computer), and taps on the contact buttons and Live Motion. It does not use cookies and does not store your IP address. To count each visitor once a day it uses a one-way code made from your IP address, browser and a random value that is discarded after two days, so visits cannot be linked across days or traced back to you. The counts are kept for about 13 months.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security. Everything else, including fonts and the 3D model, is served from this site itself; there are no third-party embeds, ads or social media trackers.

The 3D hand atlas and Live Motion are educational tools. Bone positions in Live Motion are estimated from the outline of your hand, not measured, and must not be used for diagnosis.
